Acceptance
By creating an account or continuing to use the service you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you are using the service on behalf of someone else (for example, an older relative), you confirm you have their permission to do so.
The service
Pages of the Ancestors is a fully digital, software-as-a-service product. It helps you write, record and compile a personal memoir, with optional AI-assisted prompts, voice transcription, and light editing. On the paid plan you can download your memoir as digital files, including PDF, ebook (EPUB) and Word, to keep and share digitally.
We provide digital software and digital file downloads only. Every plan is limited to online app access and downloadable digital formats. The service is provided as-is. We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Your content is yours
You own everything you write, dictate or upload. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display your content solely to provide the service to you and the collaborators you invite. You can export or delete your content at any time.
Digital service only — no physical goods
Pages of the Ancestors sells access to a digital service and, on the paid plan, downloadable digital files (PDF, ebook/EPUB and Word). That is the entire product.
We do not sell, print, ship, post or deliver any physical product — no printed books, no hardbacks, no paperbacks, no merchandise, nothing tangible. There is no warehouse, no courier, no postage. Everything is delivered electronically through your account.
If you choose to print your memoir at home or take the exported PDF to a local print shop or print-on-demand service, that is an arrangement entirely between you and that third party. We are not a party to that transaction, do not handle payment for it, and are not responsible for the quality, delivery or cost of any printed copy you arrange yourself.
What you may not do
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or to upload content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, or that you don't have the right to share.
- Infringe anyone else's intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
- Attempt to interfere with the security of the service, probe or scan it, scrape content, or upload malware.
- Reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service.
Our intellectual property
The software, design, branding and prompts that make up the service remain our property. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for personal memoir use.
Payments, subscriptions and tax
Paid plans are sold on a recurring monthly or annual subscription: £7.99 per month or £99 per year, unless a different price is shown at checkout. You can start with 7 days free in the app with no card needed. If you subscribe, Stripe checkout includes a further 7-day trial before your first payment, making 14 days total.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price.
- Prices are shown in your local currency where possible. Applicable VAT or sales tax is added at checkout and shown before you pay.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account. Access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- We may change pricing for future billing periods; we will give you reasonable notice by email before any price change takes effect.
Payment processing and Merchant of Record
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Stripe. Stripe is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Stripe provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Christopher Leece is the seller of the underlying service; Stripe is the entity you contract with for the sale, and Stripe collects payment, calculates and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT, and issues invoices on our behalf.
Card and payment method details are collected directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. By completing a purchase you also agree to Stripe's Consumer Terms, which govern payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics.
Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on every paid plan. For full details and how to request a refund, see our Refund Policy.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account if it is used in a way that materially breaks these terms, risks the security of the service or other users, is repeatedly used to infringe others' rights, or has unpaid charges. Where possible we will let you know first and give you a chance to put things right and export your data. You can close your account at any time from the Settings page.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as loss of profits, data or goodwill). Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will let you know by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect.
